The Alpaca Trader site design was built with the new browsers and computer defaults for web browsing. Unfortunately, this does
not cover everyones computer equipment.
If you notice a black scroll bar across the bottom of any page when browsing, you have your monitors screen resolution set to the old standard. Some people prefer this as the screen text is larger. However, you can achieve larger screen text without lowering screen resolution. (Get the best of both worlds below)
At first this may sound confusing, but it's not that hard. Here's how you change your screen resolution settings:
1) Click your 'Start Button' and choose 'Control Panel' in XP or Windows 2000 and for Windows 98 or ME you click 'Start Button' then 'Settings' then 'Control Panel'.
NOTE: In Windows XP there are 2 viewing options for the Control Panel. Category View and Classic View - We'll be using Classic View
2) Once in the
Classic View of the Control Panel, find the 'Display' icon and click on it to open.
3) In the resulting box there are a number of 'Tabs' at the top. The 'Tab' all the way to the right should say 'Settings'. Click that tab.
4) Toward the bottom and left there should be a slider bar with
'Min' and 'Max' or
'Less' and 'More' at either end, and your current screen resolution is displayed beneath the slider bar as 800x600 resolution, or maybe 1024x768 pixels, depending on your operating system (your version of Windows).
5) Alpaca Trader is designed for 1024x768 pixels, which is the default setting on computers 2-3 years old or newer.
If your resolution is set to 800x600 or lower, you will have a scroll bar across the bottom of every page on the site. Moving the slider bar up to 1024x768 (then clicking Apply then OK to change) will remove that scroll bar giving you full view of everything on a page.
If that makes screen text too small for your tastes, follow the same steps as above, but instead of clicking the 'Settings' tab, click the 'Appearance' tab.
At the bottom of the resulting window click the drop down list for 'Font Size' and choose a larger font set.
THATS IT!
Now surf to some of your regular sites other than Alpaca Trader, and look at the difference. I'm betting you won't switch back...
